Les Eminades 'Vielles Canailles' Carignan, Saint Chinian, Langeudoc, France
Winemaking method: Organic
Vielles Canailles means Old Rascal. Made from low yielding 112 old Carignan vines, this is one of the best wines we've tried from this area. Rich, intense and concentrated, this wine has had 14 months in large old oak which gives a touch of vanilla, along with notes of black cherry, smoke and herbs.
Winemaker and vineyard:
Husband and wife team Luc and Patricia Bettoni farm 14 hectares of vines nestled in amongst the garrigue-covered hills above Saint Chinian. This is a wild, untamed place at some of the highest altitudes found in the appellation, lending the wines freshness and balance rarely encountered in the region.
Only wild yeasts are used and the wines are bottled unfined and with minimal doses of sulphur.
These are stunning wines, well thought of as some of the best in Saint Chinian. We're proud to be the UK importers to Les Eminades.
