Alexandre Burgaud is the nephew of the famous Jean-Marc Burgaud, under who he learnt is craft. The grapes for the wine come primarily from Lantigne, our favourite area for Beaujolais Villages (and hotly tipped to become the next Beaujolais cru).
Thanks to their bid to become a cru, Lantigne has upped its quality game in recent years. All grapes have to be grown organically and many quality winemakers are buying grapes from this region for their Beaujolais or Beaujolais Villages.
Alexandre's version is darker than some with an earthy, black fruited edge. Very reminiscent of his uncle's wines, you can see the influence of Jean-Marc on the young vigneron. One of the best value Beaujolais we've found in a long time.
