The Brunier Family have a long history in Chateauneuf du Pape, spanning over 100 years. Brothers Frederic and Daniel are the sixth generation vignerons at the iconic Vieux Telegraphe estate.
Luckily for us, the brothers also make some other wines made from grapes grown just outside the Chateauneuf du Pape boundary, that offer excellent value for money. Enter Pigeoulet.
The grapes for Pigeoulet are grown in Vaucluse, just 15 miles east of Chateauneuf du Pape. It's 50% aged in cement tanks and 50% in large oak barrels for 18 months.
The wine is fleshy and fruity with notes of red cherries, raspberry, provençal herbs. Immensely drinkable. Great now but will age happily for 2-3 more years.
