Daniel Bouland is less well-known than some of the other great Beaujolais producers - possibly as he's quite a quiet, reserved chap who spends most of his waking hours tending to his vines or working in the winery rather than socialising in the bars of Fleurie and Villie-Morgon. The wines speak for themselves though and are some of the very best of the region.

His Cote de Brouilly 'Cuvee Melanie' comes from 70 year old vines on the southern slope of Mont Brouilly. It shows the ripe generosity of the 2018 vintage but with a lovely freshness which is often lacking in the wines from this warm vintage. Charming and delicious.

Although great now, it has enough strucutre to enable it to age for several years too.
