Brilliant value orange wine made right.
The Muscat grape variety firstly has a great colour skin for making orange wine and secondly has that wonderful floral nature to it that balances out the more savoury, spicy notes that come with skin contact whites. The result is a vibrant, orange-as-hell wine that tastes really rather wonderful. Made in Itata, Chile's coolest region right down close to Antartica, the wine retains freshness and acidity as a result.
De Martino's winemaker was recently named as the most infuential winemaker in the world. They shun chasing big points from influential wine critics, rather focusing on creating wines that they themselves would want to drink, with freshness, tension and elegance. Overblown they are not.
