Domaine Chapel's Fleurie comes from the Charbonnieres vineyard situated at the highest point in the appellation looking down on La Madone. It is quite simply the most beautiful vineyard I have ever visited and makes wines of stunning complexity and elegance. This amphitheatre of a vineyard is worked entirely by hand - backbreaking work but the result is some of the finest grapes in the whole of Fleurie.
The warmth of 2018 lends the wine a little more weight than one might be expecting from a Fleurie. The wine has incredible complexity with ripe red and black fruit, violets, wild herbs and olive notes. Although great now this is a wine that will develop gracefully over the next 5-10 years.
Grape variety: Gamay
Winegrowing method: Organic
