The Hocquard family have been farming Domaine de la Tour du Bon in this beautiful corner of Provence since the 60s, proudly championing local grapes such as Mourvedre and Cinsault. Now headed up by Agnes who is a charming, progressive winemaker, obsessed with quality.
It's a seriously meaty red with aromas of cherries and leather. There are also black olive and herby notes that are so reminiscent of Provence.
Fourteen hectares of red clay, sand and gravel at a high (for the area) altitude of 150m give the wine a touch of freshness which is needed to balance the powerful flavours, but the result is still an intense experience: complex, characterful and gloriously long.
