Honorio Rubio's 'Tremendus' Clarete is a pale dry rosé from Rioja. Clarete is a traditional wine style that is rarely seen anymore but Honorio's home village of Cordovin is one of the few places to still make it. In the days when most small grape growers sold off the vast majority of their production to the big producers, they would just gather whatever grapes they had leftover and rather than separating white and red they would just press the whole lot together resulting in a pale pink colour. Just a handful of producers are continuing this traditional style now.
Tremendus is very light, dry and refreshing with subtle pear and red berry flavours. It's an easy going summery wine thats great on its own or with light snacks or seafood.
