Morgon is one of the longest lived wines in Beaujolais and as such, has much more structure and body. If you're worried it's anything like the Beaujolais Nouveau of the 80s, trust the Vine Inspiration who says: "(This wine) bears about as much resemblance to the banana flavoured Beaujolais Nouveau as Bach does to Robin Thicke."
Jean Foillard has long been recognised as one of the best winemakers in Beaujolais and Burgundy. He found fame as one of the 'Gang of Four' - 4 Beaujolais vignerons who are known for making exceptional wines with little intervention, no herbicides or pesticides and very little sulphur dioxide.
The quality of vineyard and vigneron show in this medium bodied wine, packed full of wild red berries, cherries and a touch of savoury smokiness. If this wine was any further north into Burgundy, it would command a ridiculous price. As it is, Beaujolais is still a steal. For now.....
