We are very excited to announce that have just ONE BOTTLE of each vintage of this wine, from 2012 - 2017 (2018 is the current vintage which is in plenty of supply).
This is a very rare opportunity to buy some older vintages of one of Beaujolais' most ageworthy wines.
2012 - the oldest vintage so it's starting to develop but is ageing wonderfully. Complex but still has a vibrancy
2013 - a year younger so there's more fruit to it but still with some development (so a little more woody)
2014 - Flavours more reminiscent of black olive, black cherry and floral notes
2015 - the heaviest of the set, it was a hot year so there's much more fruit and body
2016 - the lightest of the set, very strawberry and raspberry, lots of freshness
2017 - a great balance between fruit, freshness and body
2018 - a warm year so again, plenty of body and fruit
Jean Foillard has long been recognised as one of the best winemakers in Beaujolais and Burgundy. He found fame as one of the 'Gang of Four' - 4 Beaujolais vignerons who are known for making exceptional wines with little intervention, no herbicides or pesticides and very little sulphur dioxide.
The quality of vineyard and vigneron show in this medium bodied wine, packed full of wild red berries, cherries and a touch of savoury smokiness. If this wine was any further north into Burgundy, it would command a ridiculous price. As it is, Beaujolais is still a steal. For now.....
