Our friend Josep has done it again with this beautiful white from his homeland Penedes, just an hour south of Barcelona. Fresh and light, a touch of honey flavour but finishes mineral and long.
Loxarel have been making stellar Cava for generations. But when Josep took the reins, he wanted to make still wines too. The result is a portfolio of around 10-15 still wines - as well as his beautiful Cava.
His house, with big open fire to roast lamb on, and vistas across his land, is nestled in the Penedes hills. His land is all farmed organically, and some biodynamically. He uses native yeasts, no chemicals in either the vineyard or the winery and only adds minimal sulphur at bottling. All his wines boast exceptional value for money. And the guy is lovely too.
