Textured, rich and wonderfully rounded, the Faithful Hound white came to life when Mulderbosch bought a vineyard of exceptional Semillon in Franschoek. The Sauvignon Blanc by contrast is from Elgin.
After fermentation in 500 litre barrels, this wine screams stone fruit such as peach and apricot, as well as a touch of tropical fruit and smoke. A real rival to its Bordeaux counterparts.
Mulderbosch is based just outside of Stellenbosch and is committed to making traditional South African wines from sustainable sources.
Their careful use of oak means they create wonderfully balanced, and usually pretty rich, wines of great complexity.
